Even weak tornadoes can pack a big punch

Although tornadoes in New Jersey might seem like an unusual occurrence, it has become more common here in the Garden State. According to the National Weather service office in Mt. Holly, New Jersey now averages at least 2 tornadoes annually since 1999. Although cool in nature and pictures, Tornadoes can be deadly and destructive. SERVPRO of Burlington Township/Mount Holly wants you to stay safe and be aware of how to avoid getting hurt in the event of tornado warning in your area.
Tip 1: When a tornado touches down, you should seek shelter in the lowest room (ex. basement) in your house.
Tip 2: avoid any and all windows, tornadoes can rip apart your house in seconds, causing shattering glass that can be more harmful then the strong winds.
Tip 3: If driving, seek shelter under an overpass is your safest bet while driving during a tornado storm.
